Below are instructions on How to play Monopoly on the net:

To play in Monopoly Games on the net you will need the latest version of Westwood Chat (version 4.221 is the most current). Also, there is a patch for the MONOPOLY® CD-ROM game at the Westwood homepage, which should help prevent lock-ups. To download these go to The Westwood File Updates/FAQS page.

Before you join or host a game, you should check and make sure you have all movies turned off. To do this go to Options on your menu and select Movie Display Options, unclick all of these. You should also be certain that you have your computer AI options set up so that only Computer Rolls For Itself is selected.

To Join a game: Start up the game.  Go to file, select New Game. Select the Add player #1 button, then choose Person on this computer Type in your name and click OK.  Choose which token you want to use and click on it then select Add Player #2 button, then choose Friend on Internet/ Network.  Click on Internet Auto-Detect you IP address should show up (for example 206.13.345.233) then click ok.  Select Connect to hosting Player via IP Address then type in the hosting IP address and select ok (it will connect you to the host and you will be waiting to be accepted by host.  Once the host accepts you, then you will be shown on a list until the host begins the game).  Good Luck and Have lots of fun!

To host a game:   Start up the game.  Go to file, select New Game.  Select the Add player #1 button, then choose Person on this computer Type in your name and click OK.   Choose which token you want to use and click on it then select Add Player #2 button, then choose Friend on Internet/ Network.  Click on Internet Auto-Detect you IP address should show up (for example 206.13.345.233) then click ok.  Select Host a Game for Joining Players and then a list should pop up.  Share your IP address with people you wish to play the game with.  When they join it a small window will pop up with their name and options to either accept or reject.  Accept them (sometimes you will need to select a token for them because they chose the same token as someone else in the game).  Once you have all of the players you want, click on the GO and begin the game!  Good Luck and Have lots of fun!

How to Chat during the game: Click on the name or the person you wish to send a message to and a small window will pop up. Type in what you wish to say and then select Whisper or Yell (Whisper for a private message to that one individual or Yell to allow all of the members of the game to see you message).
